Unlike surface equipment, an underground mine retrofit requires durable, heavy-duty components capable of operating at high exhaust temperatures under immense loads:

  2. Wall-Flow Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF): Uses cordierite or silicon carbide ceramic cores to trap microscopic soot particles. The heat from the exhaust continuously burns off this trapped soot (called passive regeneration).
  3. Muffler Replacement Shells: To save tight space on compact mining vehicles, retrofit engineers package the catalyst and DPF directly inside a heavy-duty steel container that mimics the exact size and shape of the original factory muffler.
